Modalities

ComponentFormatDescription
Run videosvideoFirst-person footage of orienteers on course, head- or chest-mounted, each timestamped against its GPX track.
TracksgpxThe runner's recorded route, synchronized to the video so any frame resolves to a geographical position.
Mapsimage + CRSOrienteering maps registered to a projected coordinate system, so a map pixel corresponds to a real-world location.

Sample

Short preview of a run video from the dataset.

Intended use

The dataset is intended to support orienteering and computer-vision research, in particular visual localization: given what a runner sees, where on the map are they?

The same task drives Följa John, a party game built at Chalmers in which players watch a run video and pin the runner's position on the map. Curated video/track/map triples become its playable rounds.
